Mona's Restoration Home

Buffalo's First Restoration Home for Women Victimized by Human Trafficking.
Modern Home
We partner with adults on their journey to become Overcomers.

Mona's House is designed to help women 18 and older who have been victims of any human trafficking, exploitation, or domestic violence in the form of familial trafficking.

WE ARE MORE THAN A SHELTER!

Mona’s House is one of the only long-term residential programs in the nation serving this population. We house women in a safe, healing environment for 12–24 months. Our holistic approach includes therapy, life skills training, financial literacy, job prep, spiritual support, and more. Women are not just stabilized—they are restored. Most of our graduates leave debt-free, with careers, and are encouraged to become homeowners.

What’s the difference between trafficking and exploitation?

Trafficking is as an act that uses force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act.

Exploitation may not fully fit into the definition of trafficking, but includes any situation where someone is taken advantage of—financially, sexually, emotionally, or otherwise within the sex trade.

What does Domestic Violence in the form of Familial Trafficking mean?

Familial trafficking is a form of domestic violence where a family member—such as a parent, guardian, sibling, or relative—exploits another family member for sex or labor.

This can include:

  • Forcing or pressuring an adult relative into commercial sex or labor through force, fraud, or coercion, OR

  • Causing a child to engage in commercial sex or labor, even without force, fraud, or coercion,

    • Taking money or benefits from that exploitation, or

    • Knowing it’s happening and not taking action to stop it.
