My name is Annabella Bogart, and I am honored to be the Outreach Coordinator at Project Mona's House.
Just four months ago when I first stepped through the doors of Project Mona’s House, I had no idea what I didn’t know. As we often say here, the eyes don't see what the brain doesn't know–and every day I’ve spent at Project Mona’s House has taught me more about what modern-day slavery looks like and how my time, talent, and treasure can be used to partner with Overcomers of human trafficking.
One of the facts that I first learned here at Project Mona’s House is that the average age of entry into sex trafficking is 12 years old. This really resonated with me–why is it that we live in a system that is complicit with traffickers stealing the youth of our children? How can we stand by and allow people to lose years of their life and be used for their bodies and labor? What can we do to partner with those who have been trafficked to work with them to live the lives they want?
Although my journey at Project Mona’s House has only begun, I look forward to learning as much as I can from the amazing people at Project Mona’s House and doing my part in helping abolish modern-day slavery. I am unbelievably honored to work with an organization that fights for kids to be kids, for empowerment, and for freedom.
