This past week, one of the girls in the Young Women’s Empowerment Academy was approached by an adult online. The opening of The FreeTHEM Center has allowed us to interact with these girls regularly, and make them more aware of online trafficking tactics.
In this particular case, because the girl has been active in our program, she knew exactly what to do. After she received the message, she immediately told her parents what happened. Once her parents were made aware of the situation, they were able to promptly contact the authorities and report the user who contacted their daughter.
At Project Mona’s House, THIS is why we do what we do. We believe that awareness IS prevention, and strive to spread the knowledge!
